In 2016, Scottish comedian Janey Godley staged a one woman protest at Donald Trump’s Turnberry Golf course just south of Glasgow. She recounts the experience here, her action inspired the world and was one of the earliest instances of protest against Donald Trump (the Scots have generally been way ahead of the game in this regard). My sculpture is tribute to Janey’s protest and maquette for what I would propose to be a permanent monument to be situated at the entry to Turnberry golf course. The plinth is inspired by the monument to Scottish poet Robert Burns situated in the town centre at Ayr, South Ayrshire, Scotland

This work is from an ongoing series entitled “Action Figures”, each one uses an actual 6” action figure (this one started with a female character from the Dr. Who series). The idea is to transform fantasy heroes into real, actual figures of protest and action. The figures are remade using polymer modelling clay, epoxy putty, acrylic paint, and wood for the plinth. The maquette is 42cm x 21cm x 21cm.
